Abstract/Description
The recently developed Canadian Best Practice Recommendations for Clean Intermittent Urethral Catheterization in Adults are the result of a collaboration between Nurses Specialized in Wound, Ostomy & Continence Canada, Canadian Nurse Continence Advisors, Urology Nurses of Canada and Infection Prevention and Control Canada. The review panel consisted of specialist nurse representatives from each of the four collaborating organizations.
The intent of this presentation is to not only share the project scope, development process, and dissemination strategy but also to provide an overview of the best practice recommendations and the available resources. With the inclusion of clinical resources, the guideline is intended to assist and support nurses working in diverse practice settings to provide evidence-based care to adults requiring intermittent urethral catheterization. These Canadian best practice recommendations will assist all NSWOCs to become both more confident and stronger continence practitioners.
