Dr. Adam H. Power MD, MPhil
Dr. Adam Power joined the Department of Surgery at Western University as an Assistant Professor in October 2012. During the last year of his undergraduate degree at the University of New Brunswick, Dr. Power went to the University of Bristol in England on a year exchange where he studied Molecular Biology and Clinical Pharmacology.
Dr. Power returned to Canada to attend Medical School at Dalhousie University, followed by a general surgery residency at McMaster University. While completing his residency, Dr. Power returned to the UK for a year where he finished a Master’s in Bio-Science Enterprise (MBE), a multidisciplinary biotechnology and business degree program at the University of Cambridge. After finishing his residency, he then headed to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester for a Vascular Surgery Fellowship before returning to Canada.
Since coming to Western University in 2012, he became Program Director of the Vascular Surgery Residency Program. He has also established himself as a Canadian expert in complex venous diseases. He has multiple industry grants, publications, presentations and book chapters. His main research lays in medical device development filing over ten provisional patents and one nonprovisional patent based on prototype work. His first medical device start-up company received seed funding in 2017 from Tech Alliance BURST and he looks forward to creating his first product to help impact the lives of patients worldwide in the next few years.
