Abstract/Description

A wound prevalence survey was completed in 2013 and again in 2018 in Western Newfoundland. After the 2013 survey there was an identified need for the implementation of a program for early detection and appropriate treatment of pressure injuries and skin tears. A program was developed and implemented regionally, with a focus on Western Health’s main acute and long term care centers. The 2018 survey showed a significant decrease in both pressure injuries and skin tears. This presentation will discuss the key elements around implementing such a program within a health authority.
