Join us on Friday, May 3, 2023, from 6:30pm to 9:30pm, for an exhilarating night at the NSWOCC 43rd National Conference Networking Event. This event promises a perfect blend of networking, entertainment, and shared moments that you won't want to miss.

Venue: Tomsons Social Hub

(located in the Hyatt Regency Calgary)

Agenda

6:30pm-7:00pm: Open Networking

The evening kicks off with a lively open networking period at a saloon-inspired Venue at the Hyatt Regency Calgary Hotel called the Thompson Social Hub where we hope you'll be dressed to impress in your best western/country themed attire! Our Conference Planning Committee Members and Board of Directors will be there to greet you.

 

The casual event will provide the perfect setting for networking, casual conversations, or team collaboration in preparation for the exciting competition ahead.

7:00pm-8:30pm: Country and Western Lip Sync & Line Dance Competition

Get ready for a showdown like no other! Pre-formed teams, captained by industry members, will take the stage in a Country and Western Lip Sync & Line Dance Competition. Teams, composed of Industry, NSWOCs, SWANs, and other healthcare professionals, will showcase their creativity and originality, incorporating crowd engagement elements into their performances. With judges offering insights and scores, the audience will also have their say with a People’s Choice Award on the Conference app.

8:30pm-9:00pm - Learn to Line Dance

Cap off the night by learning to line dance led by an expert dance instructor to some favorite Country and Western hits. The entire audience will come together, following the steps and rhythms, creating a fun and dynamic atmosphere and camaraderie! . It's the perfect way to conclude an evening, meet new colleagues and share experiences.

How it works

Each team is captained by an Industry Member and joined by participants attending the conference. 

  • Industry teams must submit a country and western song before the National Conference.

  • Maximum of 8 teams with a max of 25 members each.

  • When a participant joins a team, NSWOCC shares their contact info with the Industry Member captain. That captain will contact the new participant to welcome them to the team.

  • Team members, along with the captain, coordinate their performance.

Rules & Judging Criteria:

  1. Each team must lip-sync to a country and western song

  2. Each team must incorporate at least one element that engages the crowd

  3. Judging Criteria:

    1. Creativity of the costumes and props

    2. Lip syncing accuracy

    3. Originality of the choreography

    4. Participation from all team members

    5. Overall quality of the performance

 

There will be a first, second, third place finish and People Choice Award.

Key Info

  • Teams will perform on a 24' wide by 12' deep short riser, with the wall at the back of the riser.

  • There’s a practice space in the back of the room that has half-wall dividers for the team that’s “next up” to get organized.

  • An order will be randomly assigned closer to the date for the order in which teams will perform.
