Based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Karla received her BScN from Dalhousie University in 2008. She completed the Wound, Ostomy and Continence Institute’s WOC-EP in 2011 and works as an NSWOC at the QEII Health Sciences Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia. She has been a preceptor for several WOC-EP students for both ostomy and wound. She volunteered with the NSWOCC National Conference Planning Committee and Atlantic Regional Education Day planning and helped to revise the most recent Canadian Standards of Practice for NSWOCs. In March 2021, she became NSWOCC Atlantic Regional Director. Karla received her Master of Clinical Science-Wound Healing from Western University in 2021.
