Saddle up for a boot-stompin' good time at the NSWOCC Country and Western Sing, Stomp, and Honky-Tonk!
Mark your calendars for Friday, May 3, 2024, because from 6:30pm to 9:30pm, we're bringing the spirit of the Wild West to the NSWOCC 43rd National Conference Networking Event. Get ready to immerse yourself in an evening filled with camaraderie, entertainment, and unforgettable memories!
Here's what you can look forward to:
6:30pm - 7pm - Networking: The evening kicks off with a lively open networking period at a saloon-inspired Venue at the Hyatt Regency Calgary Hotel called the Thompson Social Hub where we hope you'll be dressed to impress in your best western/country themed attire! Our Conference Planning Committee Members and Board of Directors will be there to greet you. The casual event will provide the perfect setting for networking, casual conversations, or team collaboration in preparation for the exciting competition ahead.
7:00pm-8:30pm: Country and Western Lip Sync & Line Dance Competition: Get ready for a showdown like no other! Pre-formed teams, captained by industry members, will take the stage in a Country and Western Lip Sync & Line Dance Competition. Teams, composed of Industry, NSWOCs, SWANs, and other healthcare professionals, will showcase their creativity and originality, incorporating crowd engagement elements into their performances. With judges offering insights and scores, the audience will also have their say with a People’s Choice Award on the Conference app.
8:30pm-9:00pm - Learn to Line Dance: Cap off the night by learning to line dance led by an expert dance instructor to some favorite Country and Western hits. The entire audience will come together, following the steps and rhythms, creating a fun and dynamic atmosphere and camaraderie! . It's the perfect way to conclude an evening, meet new colleagues and share experiences.
How it works:
Each team is captained by an Industry Member and joined by participants attending the conference.
Teams are led by Industry Members and include NSWOCs, SWANs, and other Healthcare Professionals.
To create a team, use the submission form below.
Participants can join a team using the sign up form below.
Industry teams must submit a country and western song before the National Conference.
Ideally, we aim for 6-8 teams with a max of 25 members each.
When a participant joins a team, NSWOCC shares their contact info with the Industry Member captain. That captain will contact the new participant to welcome them to the team.
Team members, along with the captain, coordinate their performance.
Rules & Judging Criteria:
Each team must lip-sync to a country and western song
Each team must incorporate at least one element that engages the crowd
Judging Criteria:
Creativity of the costumes and props
Lip syncing accuracy
Originality of the choreography
Participation from all team members
Overall quality of the performance
There will be a first, second, third place finish and People Choice Award.
