Dr. Ide Costa is an Advanced Clinical Nurse with over 20 years’ experience in wound healing and management. Currently, Dr. Costa is an Assistant Professor in the School of Nursing at Lakehead University and CEO of Advanced Wound Care Consultancy & Education Inc., a NSWOC-led clinic in Thunder Bay, Ontario that provides virtual and in person care to people with wounds. She has published several articles in peer-reviewed journals and lectured nationally and internationally on a variety of wound care topics. Her research program at Lakehead University focuses on enhancing patient’s engagement in everyday self-management of hard-to- heal wounds and identifying innovative technologies to accelerate healing and avoid devastating outcomes such as amputation. Additionally, she leads a research project that provides an opportunity to patients and families to have their voices heard and their stories of navigating social life while having complex wounds honoured.
